About Me - GIS 4006

About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Nick Wagner. I am an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Natural Science. I am currently working towards a certificate in Geographic Information Systems with the hope of expanding my skills in GIS and the potential future opportunities to work in this field.

I am also a scholar of UWF’s honors program. I have spent the last few summers of 2023 and 24 working at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. I have worked as both a backcountry PC and a Ranger in Philmont. I also had the opportunity to complete a study abroad in the Galapagos Islands and an internship with the Tarpon Springs Aquarium over the last two summers.

Last winter, I was able to spend 5 days hiking the Grand Canyon with my mother and brother. This was an amazing experience, and I used this as inspiration for my first assignment of the semester, a GIS story map you can view here - My orientation story map for GIS 4006 - https://arcg.is/081u1X

I aspire to work in the field as an Environmental Scientist or to analyze GIS data remotely while traveling. Thus, I joined this certificate program with the hope that the experience and knowledge I will gain over the next few semesters will help me get a foothold in this field. I look forward to working with and furthering my knowledge of GIS this semester!
